Paul B. Kitchen of Fairhaven, first served on the Bristol County Commission in 2009.

JOHN R. MITCHELL of Fall River first served on the Bristol County Commission in 2011.  He was elected County Commissioner in 2012.

Mr. Mitchell is a lifelong resident of Fall River and has practiced law in Fall River since 1981.

Mr. Mitchell is married to the former Judith Gonsalves and they have one daughter, Courtney Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell is a graduate of The University of Massachusetts, Amherst and the Georgetown University Law Center.  He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar.  

Mr. Mitchell has worked as an attorney at his firm The Law Office of John R. Mitchell in Fall River since 1981.

Upon his graduation from law school Mr. Mitchell worked as a clerk/magistrate for the Bristol County Superior Court and then was an assistant corporation counsel for the City of Fall River.  

In 1983 he was elected a Fall River City councilor and served until 1991 when he was elected Mayor of the City of Fall River.
Mr. Mitchell served as Mayor of Fall River until 1996 when he returned to the private practice of law.
